T.I. and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle face felony drug charges after a traffic stop Wednesday night.

Police arrested rapper T.I. and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle for alleged possession of a controlled substance Wednesday night after Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from vehicle.
The newlyweds — they just got married on July 30 in Miami — were booked at the West Hollywood sheriff’s station, reports Jolene Michael at Gather. Both were held on charges of felony possession of a controlled substance, and bail was set at $10,000 apiece. Both had posted bail as of 4 a.m. Thursday, and are due back in court on September 3.

Deputies pulled over the multi-platinum selling rapper and his wife (a former member of Xscape) in an ultra-expensive Maybach (they sell for between $200,000 and $500,000 each) on Sunset Boulevard around 10:18 p.m., according to TMZ.
Deputies found an unspecified controlled substance while searching the vehicle. The substance was not cocaine, officers told TMZ, “but rather the class of controlled substance that triggered the arrest includes methamphetamine and ecstasy.”
T.I., 29, whose given name is Clifford Joseph Harris Jr., is still on probation after doing seven months in an Arkansas federal prison on weapons charges. The big question now is whether or not the drug bust will violate T.I.’s parole and send him back to the big house.
T.I. and Tiny, who are long-term partners despite being newlyweds, welcomed their second son together back in May 2008. Major Harris was the fifth child for T.I., and his second with Cottle. They were already parents to King Harris, 5.
T.I. was listed by Forbes magazine as one of the Top 20 Hip Hop Cash Kings. Besides being a rapper, he’s also a producer, actor (he appears in the 2010 hit movie Takers) and business owner.
