Marijuana is the greatest revenue producer of all agricultural products grown in the United States, at $36 billion a year. Cannabis is the top cash crop in 12 states, and one of the top three crops in 30 states.
Meanwhile marijuana prohibiton costs the U.S. $7.7 billion a year -- when we could be gaining $6.2 billion on marijuana tax revenues, and $7 billion more on cannabis shops, natural medical products, and industrial hemp products.
Meanwhile, 55 percent of Americans, according to one recent poll, believe marijuana should be legalized.
What are we waiting for?

What is america well currently its socialism far cast from what america use to be obviously the war on drugs is completely a waste of money but even beyond that obvious point in america you should be able to do whatever you want because its your choice if you want to be a strung out crack attic then go ahead its not anybodys choice not even the goverments but if you can control it like most of america then you should be able to do whatever you want I do have to say though that I am a 16 year old male and it is true you can find marijuanna in 2 secounds but its ten times harder to find legal alcholl so to sum it all up everybody smokes weed and nobody should hide it anymore keep tokin up :)

The cash value is artificially high due to prohibition, so that number will come down when sanity prevails. But ending prohibition could revive the hemp industry which would be great for the economy. It could give the US an export. What a concept!
And to think I use to think that I wasted a shit load of money on weed. Now I'm confident my money was well spent and not wasted. Great article Jack, thanks, I'm going to a happy place now.
