But mom, I wan..... Shutop beech git out git out doperlooser..
I would like to see a more insulting ad campaign. Mine would go something like this:"Dear people of Colorado, if you support Marijuana prohibition, you are stupid. Maybe you should leave your cave from time to time to understand and acknowledge the benefits of marijuana. Do you even know why it was made illegal in the first place? Probably not, yet you sure do have a strong desire to keep it illegal. This year, stop being stupid, vote to legalize marijuana." End. Probably why I'm not in broadcasting....
From the way I understand it A64 is as bad as I-502 so this presents another false image of legalization. Its amazing that none of the rational, reasonable real legalization initiatives are getting any TV air time because they don't have the system, its hacks, lackeys and out of state money backing them.
Since when has that ever stopped them from passing a bad law. We shouldn't be using .08 per se cause people who get DUI now have tolerances where they aren't impaired but still get a DUI. It might be passing a "bad law" but it's really just more of the same. While the legalization might not be "real" but now your state has the legal obligation to fight off the Feds. Word of the people and all that.
While I can understand not wanting to pass legalization with out home growing being legal but again this is another small step we will have to take in the future. Today let's take a step that says
"You can have one Oz of weed and not go to jail"
Once you have your oz they can't make you tell them where you got it. If you got it from Joe Bob down the road so what.
I'll agree that lowering the BAC to 0.08 from .10 was arbitrary and it was lowered for one major reason. Revenue. Reagan forced the states to raise the drinking age back to 21 if they wanted federal highway funds. the same crap was pulled on seat belts and adding the civil offense of refusing the test and losing your license. the reason for that was too many attorneys were beating the DUI charges or getting them lowered to reckless driving and no loss of license. Mothers Against Drunk Driving were a main driving force because, yes, some get too fucking drunk to drive and kill somebody. I've yet to see a case where a driver killed anyone due the being impaired by cannabis. Maybe one will soon be invented or manipulated to give the appearance of.
Now they want to pull the same crap with marijuana/cannabis? Like I say, no way Jose. Its entrapment the way I look at it with non-scientific unproven impairment and a BCC level that is totally arbitrary. Its a revenue hook in the guise of public safety.
No on I-502
oh please for the love of GOD STFU already Gypski, we ALL know what your opinion is on ANY of these matters...sick of ya ...
Current Colorado law is 2 ounces= petty offense and ticket-able up to $100.
NO ONE in Colorado gets arrested for 1 ounce unless you are a minor.
A64 stops NO arrests and is NOT legalization or an end to prohibition.
1 hour, 21 minutes, 48 seconds
Attorney Steve Fox DC (on behalf of Brian Vicente), "I mean she made our point better than we have, which is legalization is not what this is. She said it clearly and they are going to propose an initiative regarding the legalization of marijuana. What we are doing is regulating marijuana. It's a significant legal difference and it would be inaccurate to call it legalization."
Sounds to me like A64 saves you a $100 ticket and allows you to keep your ounce rather than see it confiscated by the po-pos. Remind me again how this is not an improvement?
What's a matter Freedom of speech bother you? Does the truth hurt? Why don't you just worry about Texas. I'm sick of you prohibitionist and other political hacks who don't understand individual freedom.
You know you just made me think that yes, we do need to take a step, one giant step before we kick the state's ass for trying to pass a law making something criminal when there is no scientific evidence in support of it.
It also dawned on me, why should or would we turn over to the state total control over the cannabis market when the state had control or regulations governing WAMU and banking in the state. That failure was part of the major bank failures costing this country billions to bail their asses out. Nobody has gone to jail over it, no politician wants to claim association with those scampaign funders they were begging for money not that long ago. I can't stand liars and abusers especially those claiming self service is public service.
Yeah, I trust these people about as far as I could spit.
No, no a thousand times no on the pig called I-502.
I was thinking about this last night at work. There has been a lot of talk the past few days about gay rights where in the past they would tie them together and burn them. I thought about how far we have come from the slave traders this country was founded on were today we have a black president. These two groups didn't get anything over night they never stopped fighting. We have been fighting for 40 years we get a new bit of ground every few years. This is simple vote yes. I am sure it's all ready a crime in WA and CO to drive under the influence. Are these people getting pulled over right now? Sure the 5ng is a crazy goal and that they should only judge this drug by a road side test and not some per say limit. When someone gets arrested its going to be so easy to get anyone off of a charge if their lawyer is awake. We have to keep taking steps forward we have to take the good with the bad. People are still scared they need to feel safe. Anyone know the current DUI rates in WA now?
Dwarf, I respect your opinion, but in good conscience, I cannot give the state the ability to continue to abuse people, patients by calling an oz legalization and no arrest and then turn around create a non-scientific DUID to appease the Reefer Madness Myth believers and calling people impaired when all scientific evidence proves otherwise.
I cannot in good conscience support or call legalized when anyone who wishes to cannot grow their own cannabis and is forced to buy only from the state. Any citizen can produce 250 gallons of beer or wine a year tax free without impedance from the government. What sets cannabis apart other then the state-government now wants to replenish its coffers that they've SQUANDERED off the backs of those they've persecuted and prosecuted for the past 70 years.
One only needs to look around them and see how they handled that state of affairs up to the present time and if you don't lie to yourself, these people cannot be trusted to do the right thing or to change bad law once its enacted.
Follow that herd if you like, don't expect me or others who feel and believe differently to go along with it. Its a fraud, plain and simple, and if you've been following along with the Drug Czar and other government officials their agenda is continued criminalizing in one form or another. No way Jose.
And for those who can't take or handle that ( ! ). Kiss it.
Well here in Texas we can't sign petitions. We have to try to convince the Reps to do it. It would be so much easier in states like TX, LA, AL, MI if other states had legal weed for everyone! How is it not Legalization? Will you be allowed to have weed with out going to jail? You could have ONE OZ and not go to jail plus you get to keep the OZ if a cop sees it. What is your definition of legalization? Cause to me that sounds like it.
And once weed is legal in your state you can sue to have that changed once someone gets arrested for a "DUI"
Did you read that blog post NORML did about how many times we have even had a chance to vote to make weed legal in the last 40 years? In 40 years is was 10 times we even had a chance! Prop 19 failed two years ago. Next time they said. Well next time is here and turns out it will be 4 years instead of 2 then 4 will turn to 6 then 8. In the words of Yoda "Do or Do Not there is no try."
For the record to clear up any misunderstandings, in my opinion, any government that that continues to criminalize their populace for revenue under the guise of public safety based on non-scientific evidence and data is a corrupt government and is in direct violation of the 1st , 4th, & 5th amendments for starters.
@the dwarf, why wait for us, don't you people have your own movement? I-502 is not legalization and its a fraud to present it as such, and will not pass.
Why should we worry only about Texas? I do believe that this is an issue that effects everyone in this country. Just cause I don't live in that state doesn't mean I can't support it or give my option. Oh maybe you think Freedom of Speech doesn't go across state lines.
Also here in Texas we are waiting for someone out west to get this started. You guys have medical and De-crime. In Texas a seed will get us in trouble. Enjoy your De-crime while we sit in jail.
*What i mean by "waiting for someone out west" they we aren't even close to getting medical they ignore our bills. But we do have a bill that says the cops DO NOT have to arrest someone for the pot. They still give them a ticket to show up to court and you can have the same rules for the amount you had. You just don't go to jail right then. Oh but they don't do that. Law says They don't Have to but they can if they want. Also you have to have gotten caught in the county you live in.
You know that the prohibitionists' ads will be nightmarish scare-fests. I like the simple and straight forward approach of these ads.
Dear mom--why did you vote to pass language that keeps me at risk of being a criminal?
Dear Mom---I just got busted smoking a joint in my dorm. Now I lose my financial aid and have to go to drug rehab. Why did you tell me A64 would make things better? PS do You have $100,000 to cover the rest of my college education?
You liked this with your own One Brown Mouse account. For those that don't know you, that's the dispensary Kathleen used to run in Nederland where she regularly ripped off patients to the tune of $18 per gram.
That's what your argument has come to. You liking your own comments to make yourself seem more supported.
And I love it how an anonymous poster accuses me of trying to 'trick' people into thinking anyone agrees with me while I openly use my name and my business name.
And again--as you have used the "too the tune of $18/gram-"-a few times before in other blogs. You were never a patient at One Brown Mouse and you posted the link you were trying to skew.
I had to tell you then as I will now---read the whole article and look at the dates. My 18/gr in 2009 was less then the Boulder and Denver stores had priced at $24/gr. And my $18/gr was for single grams and hands down top of the line. 2009. When wax was $60-80/gr down the mountain it was $20-$40 at the Mouse. But keep trying.
Though I understand why you have stopped adding the link--cause the MOUSE was given some of the BEST reviews from the anonymous shoppers at the Westword.

and the Atlantic:
Hahaha---You bet I like my comments here and if I was trying to hide it I would not have liked them. DA. One Brown Mouse has been my business name since 1991-you must be new to the effort? I do have moments in 20 years a fighting this war where I think my comments are clever. My dear mom responses qualify in my play book as this dear mom BS campaign is another NONEDUCATIONAL waste of money.
Why is the adult a white girl out of college and not a non white person who can't even afford college?
We all have a mom--but how many of use would email our moms such crap? I used to get drunk in college......now that I am out of college I understand pot is safer.... DA.
Most over 18 have participated in experimentation (as it IS HUMAN NATURE). They understand the differences in alcohol and cannabis. And no matter how many thumbs up or down the only confirmation I care about and anyone should care about is the opinion (rulings) in the COURTS. And I have been spot on on how the courts are ruling 'grey' language down.
If you think A64 will be different in the courts--you are wrong. The Beinor and Watkins rulings in the last year have crushed the A64 language before we even vote on it. It's a train wreck ahead. Think about jumping off before the crash.......
Just to add two cents, that's about what it will cost if not more for state sold only schwag and ditch weed they'll buy from the Feds Mississippi gardens.
Ads like this will help,,now waiting for the federally funded anti-legalization ads,,through Drug Free America or some other propaganda broadcaster.
Happy Mothers Day---If A64 passes your teenagers and 18-20 year old kids WILL STILL BE ARRESTED and lose their college aid and have a record to follow them through their lives, ruining their career opportunities. They will still have to go to rehab if they get busted for smoking a joint in college.
So in other words, adults 21 and over will be better off while anyone under 21 will be in the same situation they are today.
Sounds like a step forward to me.
