It’s probably pretty fair to say that Cletis Williams didn’t have a whole lot of respect for the law.
With a rap sheet as long as his Arkansas drawl, including an alleged “previous altercation” with local police, Williams’ literal and legal contempt for the court system of Jonesboro, Arkansas had earned him a whopping 23 arrest warrants.
Even at the tender age of 57, the 6’2″ 250 pound Williams was not a hard man to find, and it wasn’t long before Jonesboro PD came looking for their version of southern justice.

Chavis Carter was only 21 when he died of a gunshot wound while handcuffed in the back of a police patrol car

Police in Jonesboro, Arkansas, are claiming the death of a man they detained on marijuana charges in the back of a squad car was the result of shooting himself in the head while his hands were cuffed behind his back.

The officers claim that Chavis Carter, 21, killed himself after being searched on suspicion of possessing marijuana, reports Steve Watson of Infowars.com. Officers had double-locked the handcuffs to make it harder for the lock to be picked, but they claimed Carter was somehow miraculously able to pull out a hidden gun, raise it to his head and pull the trigger while they were briefly away from the car.
The cops claimed they found a .380 handgun and a spent cartridge in the back seat next to Carter’s slumped body. They claimed the gun “must have been overlooked” when they searched Carter — twice.

Arkansans for Compassionate Care

A petition is circulating in Arkansas to allow the sick and dying access to medical marijuana with a doctor’s recommendation.

Arkansans for Compassionate Care (ACC) are encouraging others to support the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act, which would legalize the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes, reports Will DuPree at KAIT.
“It’s common sense,” said ACC campaign director Ryan Denhem. “It’s time to have a policy like this in Arkansas.”

Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey: vindictive prosecution?

Butte County, California’s restrictive dispensary ordinance was just blocked by petition — and now, in what reeks of vindictive prosecution, the district attorney is filing the first charges on dispensaries raided a year ago.

Butte County D.A. Mike Ramsey announced on Wednesday that three Forest Ranch residents have been arrested on three felony counts of marijuana sales and one count of possession of marijuana for sale, reports ChicoER.
Jason Allen Anderson, 35; Michael Franklin Anderson, 46; and Kaitlin Christine Sanchez, 23, operated the Mountainside Patient Collective at 3330 Highway 32 west of Chico.
The Anderson brothers are also charged with marijuana cultivation and possession for sale, relating to a grow operation found on their property in Forest Ranch.
