“You can have my gun when you pry it from my smelly, unwashed dungarees”

With the medical and recreational use of cannabis steadily on the rise, controversy looms over how it is to be handled in the workplace. In 23 states, and counting, adults can legally fire up a joint in the privacy of their home, but those same states offer no protection when a person’s otherwise legal cannabis use leads to them losing their job.
So, often the battle comes down to one simple question: How cool is your boss? Some bosses will make you piss in a cup on your way in the door, while others will make sure there is always a bowl packed in the break room bong.
The latter seems to have been the case at Valley Pawn in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where it was all fun and games until one butthurt employee took a bullet where the sun don’t shine.

Two men are dead after a crew of seven robbers dressed as cops forced their way into a Fresno, California family’s home Thursday in an effort to steal marijuana.
Details aren’t all that clear yet, but police say that the homeowners and robbers got into a shootout and at one point a 15-year-old girl was used as a human shield by robbers, who took the girl hostage for a short time before dumping her in downtown. Cops say that one man in the home was pistol-whipped by the robbers.

According to several news sites out of New York, Ramsey Orta, the guy who filmed New York City police officers killing Eric Garner in a chokehold, was arrested Saturday. Cops say he was profiled after going into a Long Island hotel that cops say is a known drug hangout and arrested afterward for gun charges. A 17-year-old female he was with was also charged with marijuana possession.

When attempting to smuggle marijuana across town in your damned underwear, it is probably in your best interest to avoid packing a semi-automatic heater as well as making the choice to not wear weed-related apparel.
This is apparently a common sense lesson in cannabis that one South Carolina man just had to learn the hard way. According to the Rock Hill Police Department, 26-year-old Kim Leonard Grafton Jr. was busted earlier this week after officers discovered over forty baggies of marijuana stuffed in his underpants after a traffic stop.

Serve and protect? Really?

A Minnesota SWAT team on a brainwashed mission to rid the world of yet another non-violent drug user has tipped the scales of injustice and inhumanity by brutally killing a family’s pets while executing a no-knock search warrant on their St. Paul residence.
The twisted, domestic infantry marched up to the home belonging to Larry Lee Arman and his girlfriend Camille Perry early Wednesday morning and used brute force to bust down the front door while the family slept inside. “I was laying right here, and I really thought I was being murdered,” Larry Lee Arman told KMSP Fox 9. “I don’t want to say by who. I thought it was like, the government.”

If you’re a longtime toker, you’ve probably been there: bag of weed is empty, resin in the pipes is charred out and you’ve got to find something to puff on. Maybe you didn’t always maintain your personal integrity while scouring the city streets looking to score a bag of grass, we get it.
But while some of us are guilty of our fair share of shady and sometimes morally-skewed indiscretions as a result of the search for more ganja, it’s still weed and pot users aren’t normally doing crackhead-like things to get their fix like shaking down an elderly funeral home director. Or, at least that’s what we thought.

Sammy Flores Jr. was born in 1971 and given the name of his father, Samuel Flores Sr., who happened to be one of the largest marijuana trafficking kingpins in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Junior was quick to follow in his father’s shady footsteps.
After his father was riddled with bullets by Mexican police at a dusty roadside checkpoint in Guadalajara in the fall of 1985, Flores fell into a life of crime of his own. Just three months after his old man was gunned down, Flores was arrested at the Pittsburgh airport carrying $17,000 in cash and a silenced .22 caliber pistol after having just completed a 205 pound weed sale in the city.

Washington state medical marijuana grower Justin Loken, who after being ambushed and robbed inside his home last summer by a gang of social pariahs, whipped out a pistol and put a bullet in a couple of his assailents.
But apparently in Washington, defending your legal marijuana grow operation against hookers, pimps and robbers with a firearm will earn you a substantial federal prison sentence.

Two former Los Angeles County Sherriff’s deputies were charged, booked, and released this week on $50,000 bail a piece, stemming from accusations that they had illegally planted firearms during an alleged bust at a southern California medical marijuana dispensary back in 2011.
Facing charges ranging from obstruction of justice and altering evidence, to perjury and filing false police reports, Julio Cesar Martinez (39) and Anthony Manuel Paez (32) are scheduled to be arraigned later this year, on June 17th. If convicted, they could face up to seven years in state prison.

We read a lot of fucked-up stories related to cannabis here at Toke, but this one might be the most disturbing we’ve read in a long, long time.
Two California men aged 30 and 24 have been charged with keeping a 15-year-old girl as a work/sex slave on their heavily-armed Clearlake marijuana farm, locking the girl in a 4x2x2 metal box for days on end according to local news KCRA.com.
