A new father in Pennsylvania is facing marijuana charges after he lit up a joint — instead of a cigar — to celebrate his child’s birth at Uniontown Hospital Tuesday morning.

Police didn’t release the man’s name, but said he was found smoking pot in the designated smoking area of the hospital, reports the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. He will face marijuana charges, according to authorities.
A nurse smelled the marijuana when she took a cigarette break in the same area. She said she saw two men in the smoking area, but did not see either smoking cannabis.
A hospital security guard called police about 3:20 (oh man, not 4:20?) a.m., according to Uniontown Police Sgt. Jonathan Grabiak.

Dude, maybe you should wait until it’s legal. A Pennsylvania man is facing possible charges after he called 911 to complain about some “bad marijuana” he had just bought, which turned out not to be pot at all.

Police did not identify the 21-year-old Uniontown man, who called a Fayette County emergency dispatcher Wednesday and said he had bought some questionable cannabis, reports the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
He asked police to check the pot out for him, according to authorities.
After responding to the man’s Millview Street residence, cops noticed, you guessed it, a “leafy green substance” on the couch. The man whined to the officers that he had bought the stuff earlier that day, and when he smoked it, “It was nasty.”
Detective Donald Gmitter said a field test determined the substance was not marijuana, but did not reveal anything else — as in, what the hell it was. Preliminary results showed it was not a controlled substance, according to the police report.

The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) is hailing the passage of another milestone for the Global Marijuana March, with Georgetown, Guyana and Ryebrook, N.Y., as the 299th and 300th cities holding a march, rally, forum or benefit on the weekends of Saturday, May 1 and May 8.

NORML and numerous other groups called for more cities this year to participate, so that organizers could meet and surpass their stated goal of more than 200 cities.
“Worldwide action is necessary for any outright legalization, since cannabis is largely prohibited globally by a United Nations treaty known as the Single Convention, enacted in 1962 through the efforts of top anti-cannabis zealot Harry Anslinger, the original instigator of U.S. cannabis prohibition in 1937,” said Allen St. Pierre, executive director of NORML.

That would certainly explain the Rasta colors…

A Pennsylvania man was arrested Thursday morning after employees at an elementary school found marijuana in the backpack of the man’s kindergarten-age son.

Ronald J. Washington, 33, of Uniontown, Pa., called Menallen Elementary School to ask whether his son, who is enrolled in kindergarten there, had arrived, reports Jim McKinnon of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Washington told school officials he needed to “retrieve something” from his son’s blue Elmo backpack.
School employees were suspicious and searched the book bag, finding two clear plastic bags of marijuana, at which point they alerted state police.
Law enforcement officers determined the bags contained 105 grams of cannabis.
