1973, Kingston, Jamaica — Bob Marley holding a spliff during the first photo session with Esther Anderson to promote the album at the courtyard of a Colonial house in midtown Kingston, named Island House at the time. This image was first published in the UK as a poster and later used on the front cover of the Catch a Fire re-release. The author shot this first ever image of Bob Marley with a spliff in his mouth to make a statement of freedom on behalf of his Rastafarian faith. — Image by © Esther Anderson/Corbis
