Bananas are the Jan Brady (or Meg Griffin, for you millennials) of fruit. Most of us couldn’t even spell the word if it weren’t for that annoying Gwen Stefani song. Possessors of easily my least favorite fruit flavor, bananas are only edible in cake form because of the accompanying cream-cheese frosting and are largely eaten because we’re too lazy to wash an apple or cut a kiwi. Banana-flavored Runts? I send ’em back. Banana Laffy Taffy? Go fuck yourself. But if you have Banana Kush, pull up a chair. Let’s talk.

There is so much speculation surrounding the killing of Michael Brown, the unarmed black teenager in Ferguson, Missouri. Despite eyewitness accounts, a federal investigation by the Justice Department, and three separate autopsies, there is still no common consensus as to what exactly happened that fateful day.
Much like in the case of the death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin, there seems to be a go-to formula that the defenders of the shooters tend to roll out each time we face one of these tragedies, and it seems to always paint the dead victim as a dangerous pothead.

Ganja now has a friend in cable television as the new show Cannabis Planet TV debuts on several stations across the United States, including South Florida’s WHDT-TV.

Patrick Kennedy, the former Democratic Congressman from Rhode Island, is not a fan of marijuana legalization, and he wants everyone to know about it. The son of the late Teddy Kennedy, the wildly popular long time Senator from Massachusetts, Patrick is riding the coattails of his family name on a whirlwind media tour to promote his new prohibitionist group, SAM (Smart Approaches to Marijuana).
After visits to nationally syndicated cable television shows like Bill Maher and Piers Morgan, Kennedy’s latest soapbox comes in the form of an op-ed piece that was graciously printed by the notoriously conservative and anti-cannabis San Diego Union-Tribune.
In the piece, Kennedy says, “When I woke up after the 2012 election, two states had voted to legalize marijuana. That day I also ‘woke up’ to how naive I had been. ”
