Sony assumed North Korea would hate the movie. The question was: What would it do? Pyongyang had just tested its atom bomb and threatened “preemptive nuclear attack.” And the Supreme Leader with his finger on the trigger was barely over 30, with less than two years of experience.
But Kim Jong-un didn’t care about Olympus Has Fallen, even though the violently anti-North Korean 2013 film showed his people strangling women, murdering unarmed men, kidnapping the U.S. president and even executing their fellow citizens. His saber rattlers never mentioned it. That wasn’t worth a fight.
A year later, North Korea had a bigger enemy: Seth Rogen.

The call to release testimony heard by the Staten Island grand jury that cleared Daniel Pantaleo got a big boost last week, when Public Advocate Letitia James and two legal advocacy groups applied to have a wide range of materials from the proceedings disclosed.
The court in Staten Island has so far released only the most basic information about the grand jury that examined Eric Garner’s death.

San Diego County Sheriffs and CHP shut down Camino Paz on Tuesday to search for the suspected getaway driver in a Spring Valley pot shop robbery

Nearly a century ago, between 1920 – 1933, the United States undertook what some called “the noble experiment”; the nationwide prohibition of alcohol.
In reality, it was a horrifically stupid experiment and a miserable failure that led to increased alcohol consumption, an overall increase in crime, the rise of organized crime, the court systems were flooded with trivial cases, public officials and politicians succumbed to atrocious levels of greed and corruption, and untold amounts of taxpayer dollars were forfeited to a thriving black market.

Tim Casey, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s longtime lawyer, wants out of the hot-potato Melendres racial-profiling case now that it’s in a “compliance phase.”
Lawyers for the American Civil Liberties Union of Arizona don’t want him to leave so fast, though — not with questions and things left to discover related to corrupt deputy Ramon Charley Armendariz, who hung himself in May rather than submit to arrest.

As we’ve reported, prominent addiction specialist and Project SAM principal Dr. Christian Thurstone stirred controversy via a blog post implying that marijuana contributed to — and perhaps even caused — the death of Michael Brown, whose shooting by a police officer caused weeks of rioting in Ferguson, Missouri. Thurstone subsequently removed the post but didn’t rescind his thesis, and that infuriates marijuana advocate Wanda James. She feels misinformation like that spread by Thurstone is being used to justify police shootings of “young black and brown men.”

The local news blurred out the “Fuck the Growers…Marijuana is still illegal” part of this narc’s lame shirt

There is no shortage of headlines in the news these days about police officers abusing their power and denying citizens of even their most basic rights.
From Ferguson, Missouri, to your town or one nearby, cops are getting caught – many times on camera – showing little or no respect for due process, and all too often are using their own personal ideologies as a sliding scale of sorts to decide when and how to enforce the law.
They typically do not wear that ideology printed on their uniforms, however, but one law enforcement officer involved in a raid earlier this week in San Diego has some explaining to do regarding his blunt sense of style.

A joint effort by the U.S. Attorney Office of South Florida, the Miami Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives resulted this week in the arrest of 21 members of a gang known as the Big Money Team.
The gang operated in the Little Havana and Allapatah neighborhoods and had their hands in everything from guns, crack cocaine, Molly, marijuana, and prostitution to armed robberies, assaults, car jackings, and intimidating locals. And yes, they had some sweet nicknames.

The conflict between the increasing numbers of state laws favoring the medicinal or recreational use of marijuana, and the federal government’s insistence on keeping its use highly illegal, has led to a dangerous amount of grey area attached to any of the various pot laws passed around the country so far.
One place where this grey area is in full effect every single day – whether the boss knows it or not – is the workplace. Though the courts have historically favored the employer in cases involving medical marijuana, one man in New Mexico just bucked that trend in a Worker’s Comp decision whose ripple effects could set a very meaningful precedent for future cases.

The Wolves of Wall Street may have paved their way to success and ultimately, a federal penitentiary by snorting copious amounts of cocaine and gang banging high-end prostitutes while running penny stock scams on blue-collar America, but these cash carnivores are preparing to sink their teeth into a new kind of green these days – legal marijuana.
