The league and the plant appear to be on a collision course.

Here’s your daily round-up of pot-news, excerpted from the newsletter WeedWeek

This guy.

It feels like just yesterday Justin Bieber was down in the Sunshine State allegedly blocking off a Miami Beach roadway, drag-racing with R&B singer Khalil and being snarky with the po-po. The Biebz was placed under arrest for failing a field sobriety test, resisting arrest, and driving with an expired license.
As a first-time offender, TMZ reports the megafamous pop star was offered a pretty standard plea deal: community service, alcohol abuse classes, and random drug testing. In his infinite wisdom, he said no deal. After all, this is Florida, where people have literally gotten away with murder. Read the rest over at the Broward-Palm Beach New Times.

Jermaine Dupri was cruising South Beach with his boys when cops noticed the black Lincoln Navigator’s tint was so dark that they couldn’t identify the race, sex, or number of passengers inside the SUV. Police pulled over the party to see who was headed north on Washington Avenue at 3:24 a.m. and what they had to hide.
Two officers noticed a “strong odor of marijuana emanating from within the vehicle.” There was no weed present, however. Still, they called in backup. Dupri tweeted: “Somebody pls call TMZ. Five police cars just pulled us over cause [names]got the car smelling like snoop dogg. oh shit!… lol this is a movie.” Miami New Times has the rest.

November 1 was bad day for Atlanta’s Amy Seiber. After waking up and heading to her job at Wendy’s to flip burgers all day, she realized that the half-blunt she had saved for herself had gone missing.
That’s bad, but not the really bad part. The bad part is that her blunt was a few miles away in the kitchen of some fast-food junkie ready to scarf down her quarter-pounder with chee’. More specifically: inside the bun of said quarter-pounder with chee.

Usain Bolt.

The race is on to see which celebrity or famous athlete can make the biggest pot-related headline, and Usain Bolt, the fastest man on the planet, has sprinted to the head of the pack.
Anti-cannabis groups are up in arms about a new ad campaign by American clothing manufacturer, The Pothead Diaries. Bolt, the reigning Olympic champion in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay kicked up dust with pot critics when he posted pictures to his Instrgram account showing him flaunting the controversial duds.

Apple kept her eyes closed and a serious expression on her face for her mug shot

Pop singer Fiona Apple was arrested at a Texas border stop on Wednesday for hashish possession, according to multiple media sources. Agents arrested Apple in Sierra Blanca, Texas, after they claimed they found hash and marijuana during a search of her tour bus.

Apple, a marijuana advocate, was aboard her tour bus when the Border Patrol inspected the vehicle with a drug-sniffing dog, reports TMZ. The mutt found the hash and pot, and Apple was thrown in Hudspeth County Jail, report Rebecca Macatee and Sharareh Drury at E Online.
The 35-year-old pop star kept her eyes closed and a serious expression on her face for her mug shot. She is seen wearing a black-and-white jail jumpsuit, according to Rusy Fleming, a spokesman for the Hudspeth County Sheriff’s office.

Snoop spoke up for Willie after that star’s Texas bust; now those same Texans popped Snopp, too.

Music legend Snoop Dogg was reportedly arrested in Texas this weekend for possession of marijuana.

According to celebrity website TMZ, the rapper got busted after a drug-sniffing dog detected marijuana on his tour bus! What a shocker, eh?
Snoop’s bus was stopped at a border patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca. Does that sound familiar? Well, that could be because it’s the same town that busted Willie Nelson back in 2010.

What’s up with these Sierra Blanca hayseeds? Why do they hate music and America??
After Willie’s bust in 2010, Snoop had come to the country star’s defense, saying “They better leave Willie the fuck alone.” It doesn’t take much imagination to picture the Sierra Blanca outpost of the Border Patrol just waiting for the day when Snoop passed through…

Willie has never been shy about his continuing love for and frequent use of marijuana.

Willie Nelson’s prosecutor in a Texas marijuana possession case may not be going along with the judge who rejected a plea deal struck with the country legend and sought harsher punishment.

Becky Dean-Walker, the judge in Willie’s pot case said the plea deal struck between Nelson and District Attorney C.R. Bramblett — in which the singer would have paid a $500 fine and the case would have gone away — smacked of leniency because of Nelson’s star status.
Judge Dean-Walker, sporting a garish vintage 1980s trailer-park hairdo, told the prosecutor to come up with a harsher punishment, with a maximum of one year in jail.
“There’s a strong possibility that the prosecutor will not recommend a stronger punishment, but instead just sit on the case until it’s dismissed for lack of prosecution,” reports TMZ.
“Call it defiant, but the prosecutor is riding a wave in Texas to treat marijuana possession for what it is… and not fill the overcrowded jails with recreational potheads,” TMZ wrote.
