An upcoming “pot party” in Los Angeles to celebrate President Barack Obama’s first year in office is using Photoshopped image of the Commander In Chief smoking a joint.

The ad features the President puffing a fat doobie in a doctored photo. The event’s organizers say the party will “celebrate Obama ending DEA raids” on medical marijuana patients and providers in states where medical cannabis is legal, report David Edwards and John Byrne at The Raw Story.
According to TMZ, a White House spokesman said the President’s image was used without permission. The spokesman added the Administration has a policy of “disapproving of the use of the President’s name and likeness for commercial purposes.

Ed Forchion, who goes by the name NJ Weedman, is throwing the “Obama One Year In Office Celebration” to highlight what he calls the “2010 Reefer Revolution,” reports Neil Katz at CBS News.
Forchion runs the Liberty Temple, a marijuana dispensary which he describes as a “cannabis ministry,” in Hollywood.
“I threw my support behind Obama during his candidacy and now I’m throwing this party for him,” Forchion told Hype Magazine.
“President Obama made history when he ended the federal raids on California’s dispensaries,” Forchion said. “Employees and patients alike who operated in fear can now partake in peace in the healing science, art and practice of marijuana smoking.”
The White House didn’t say if they’d take action against the ad’s creators.
“Either way… we’re guessing the wave of paranoia that’s about to engulf the tokers responsible for messing with the Most Powerful Man on the Planet will be punishment enough,” TMZ wisecracked.
The party is set for this weekend in Los Angeles.
