The state made it easy with a website with helpful links to assist its deputized citizenry in identifying marijuana and signs of grow operations, reports Greg Campbell at dscriber.
The NORML article noted that while nobody supports the misuse of public lands for growing marijuana, there is a better way to deal with it -- removing the penalties for cultivation on private land, instead of turning hikers and campers into snitches.
"Did you know marijuana is being illegally grown in Utah?" the site, with a keen grasp of the obvious, ominously warns. "Have you ever been hiking or camping and seen what looks like an illegal marijuana growing operation? We have created this website to make it easier for people to report this illegal activity, so we can crack down and keep these illegal drugs out of our state and off our streets."
Yeah, it seemed like a great idea. That is, until NORML posted a story about Utah's misguided efforts. Within 24 hours, pot-friendly visitors flooded the site with fake tips.

“Marijuana is the most violence-causing drug in the history of mankind.”And this is what Dr. Grinspoon said in 2006 about Cannabis Sativa medicinal Plant:
"Cannabis will one day be seen as a wonder drug, as was penicillin in the 1940s. Like penicillin, herbal marijuana is remarkably nontoxic, has a wide range of therapeutic applications and would be quite inexpensive if it were legal".

These are two opinions the citizens around the country will be asked to compare and to choose from. I do not believe that the choice is exceedingly difficult one. What I believe is that the fear-tactics must be rejected once and for all, and at least medical marijuana should be legalized in all 50 States ASAP!

everyone is a potential snitch, so how are growers going to react? if they are responsible citizens they will take it elsewhere or give it up. unfortunately, if they are growing on public lands in quantities too big to just abandon, they aren't responsible citizens, under any possible definition of the term.
bottom line, if hikers or others are killed in utah because of this program, the utah law enforcement organizations will be accessorial.

Asking for help online IS not very thought out, but I pity every single troll/pot smoker that trolled this site and thinks it's okay to plant mj on public land using unrestricted methods of farming that frack the ecosystem....not to mention the violent nature of the growers. I have a friend who works for the waterboard in CA and her life is in danger every time she has to go into public land to monitor the water quality. F**k pot users who don't give a damn. I hesitate to say it, but there is an easy fix for this. If the website requires authentication (including SSN and/or Driver's license), then they will dramatically cut down on fake tips while having minimal impact on real tips. The subset of people who are ignorant enough to help the government dictate what citizens can do on private property are probably a similar subset that believe the government should know everything about its citizens.

Times have changed in the sense that we are all connected now via internet and media, but really, pot hasn't changed. It's still has tons of medicinal benefits.
Example: My fiancees grades went up as soon as she started smoking pot. Why? Stress. School is stressful, if you get all wound up about deadlines, projects, etc. You'll be stressed out and will not get as much sleep etc. How is pot helpful in that aspect?
It can help you eat, sleep, improve sex life, it makes you forget about your worries for the time being so you CAN relax. Come home, smoke a bong or joint, forget about school, have a good time, get a good sleep, then do it all over again. Of course moderation is key like anything, but stress is much much more dangerous than pot isn't it? Is stress not what causes normal people to snap?
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the other hundread thousand benefits.

How is it that tobacco smoke is harmful and mj smoke is God's gift to mankind. Can you pick, dry, roll any plant other than tobacco and the smoke will not harm your lung function. That is a crock of shit on your part.
If mj is so great then would you let Cheech & Chong operate heavy equipment? Would you insure them as an insurance agent? If there is an effect, how long do you have to wait until you operate. Can you cite a time period? Can you recite a study or is this something we have to figure out over the next 50 years an o many accident later?
Yes, mj has some medicinal purposes. It may not have to be smoked. And you are blowing some smoke.
