Remember dial-up Internet? I can still hear that scratching beep on the phone line. Cable and DSL made life a little easier and porn a little clearer, but wi-fi made that era look like the Stone Age. Wireless Internet has been a game-changer: sharing information, bar debates, family dinners — it’ll never be the same. White Fire OG Kush, known as WiFi OG for short, came around in the early 2000s, about the same time I got rid of my ethernet cord. It didn’t change the world like Facebooking on your phone at Starbucks has, but it’s made a mark on dispensaries all the same.
Dear Stoner: Those pictures of mites and mildew on plants at westword.com were disgusting. What are marijuana employees supposed to do when they see stuff like that by a shady employer?

As a self-appointed expert on underappreciated fruits, I feel confident saying that blackberries don’t get the love and attention they deserve. Blackberries are bigger than raspberries, sweeter than blueberries, and don’t require any pitting or spitting like cherries and strawberries. Get rid of açaí and add more blackberries to your life, America. Let’s make breakfast bowls great again.
Dear Stoner: Does someone have to be eighteen to buy CBD products? What if they’re made from hemp? I see some in dispensaries and others in regular stores.

The first time I wrote about pre-rolled joints, I labeled them the hot dogs of the cannabis industry: “Cheap to make, easy to consume and extremely convenient – but do you really want to know what’s inside?” Most of the time, you don’t.
Over the past few months, though, shops have started to carry more pre-rolls — not from their own grows, but from wholesale companies dedicated to joints and little else. They may be more expensive than what you’re used to, but at least they’re full of whole flower and not leaves and snickelfritz buds.
It’s quite an achievement for a dispensary to breed a new strain in-house and then watch it grow in popularity. For example, L’eagle’s house strain, L’eagle Eagle, is one of the finest sativas in town, and we’re not likely to see another take on it, because L’eagle created and owns it — and who would want to share genetics like that?
Then again, it’s arguably even more impressive when a dispensary grows a strain that’s commonly available and does it so well that everyone else stops trying. That’s why I’ve always appreciated what the Clinic has done with Panama Punch.
Buddies Wellness LLC is having a tough week. The medical marijuana cultivator, which sells its products through the La Bodega dispensary, voluntarily recalled its concentrates on July 25 because of a possible pesticide contamination. But the problem didn’t end there: Two days later, the City of Denver announced that Buddies Wellness was the first Denver marijuana grower recalling marijuana for mold and mites.

Thirteen people associated with Hoppz’ Cropz stores in Colorado Springs, including co-owners Joseph Hopper, also known as “Joey Hops,” and Dara Wheatley, nicknamed “Boss Lady,” have been indicted on charges that they illegally distributed nearly 200 pounds of marijuana in a variation on the sort of “free” pot giveaway schemes that date back to the days before and just after the launch of legal recreational cannabis sales.
