One of her best-known and loved creations is The Happy Hippie comic, which serves to help spread the word about medicinal cannabis.
The Happy Hippie is a strip about an everyday family with not-so-everyday events happening and an awareness about medical marijuana. The strip starts with a mother and son talking about going to a compassion club to get the son’s medicine, cannabis. The journey continues from there.
“Modern research suggests that cannabis is a valuable aid in the treatment of a wide range of clinical applications,” Georgia says. “These include pain relief — particularly of neuropathic pain (pain from nerve damage) — nausea, spasticity, glaucoma, and movement disorders.
“Cannabis is also a powerful appetite stimulant, specifically for patients suffering from HIV, the AIDS wasting syndrome, or dementia,” Georgia says. “Emerging research suggests that marijuana’s medical properties may protect the body against some types of malignant tumors and are neuroprotective.
“Cannabis is a real medicine with real relief from these symptoms; who is to say it should be prohibited?” Georgia asks. “This strip is not about encouraging you to use cannabis — only to help make you THINK and educate and be informed in a way that is lighthearted.”
