Police say a Hispanic man was shot and killed in a field of hundreds of marijuana plants sometime over the weekend after discovering his body Monday.
A relative of the man phoned police to report the shooting, according to the Ukia Daily Journal, which broke the story.

Not much information is available right now, but according to police the man was likely camping out in the field and tending to the crops near Laytonville, California just south of Eureka and Redwood National Park.
In addition to the dead man, police say there were roughly 300 marijuana plants that had been recently harvested from one of two temporary greenhouses set up on the property.
The man has not been identified, and the county will conduct an autopsy today. We’ll have more as it develops.
