John McCain changing his mind about marijuana legalization?

You need further proof that marijuana attitudes are rapidly changing in this country? Here’s your sign: former presidential candidate Sen, John McCain, a republican from Arizona, now says he’s open to marijuana legalization.
Yeah, you read that right. The guy who called marijuana a “gateway drug” as recently as 2007 is saying he’s changed his mind.

Arizona Daily Star reporter Tim Steller reports that McCain made the announcement at a Phoenix town hall event.
“Maybe we should legalize,” McCain reportedly said, according to Steller’s tweet. “We’re certainly moving that way as far as marijuana is concerned. I respect the will of the people.”

Could McCain’s position be representative of the entire Republican party when it comes to marijuana?
Not likely, but it should be.
