A St. Louis Metropolitan Police officer with three years on the force shot a robbery suspect during a foot chase Thursday night near Fairground Park, striking him in the thigh.
Turns out, suspect Keon Davis wasn’t involved in the robbery police were investigating. But a department-issued bullet in the leg didn’t stop the Circuit Attorney’s Office from charging the seventeen-year-old with unlawful use of a weapon, possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana and resisting arrest.

It all started with a 911 call for shots fired at a robbery around 9:30 p.m. near Fair and Natural Bridge avenues.
Two officers in the area observed four black males matching the description from the call, according to police reports. The officers tried to interview them, but Davis fled on foot, holding his right side as he ran.
One officer, a 27-year-old with three years of experience, followed Davis in his marked police vehicle. At Sacramento and Fair avenues, the officer got out of the car and told Davis to stop and show his hands.
