Coming: ‘Sex N Weed’ and ‘HIGHer Learning’ On iBAKE TV

No Excuses Entertainment, a rapidly growing online marijuana media company, already produces the news and entertainment-centered Wake N Bake Show for iBAKE TV, which is garnering an enthusiastic audience eager to learn about cannabis cooking.

Now, iBAKE TV plans to bring both a new educational show, HIGHer Learning with Linzy Miggantz, and a new entertainment show, Sex N Weed, produced by the people at CodeFourTwenty. Both shows are scheduled to begin broadcasting in November, according to Thurlow Weed, CEO of No Excuses Entertainment, LLC and host of the Wake N Bake Show.

HIGHer Learning with Linzy Miggantz will inform viewers on various uses for cannabis oil (which has been known to cure certain cancers), what happens with your body when using the oil, and why it is beneficial. Miggantz is a Crohn’s patient is is currently using medical cannabis oil to treat it.

CodeFourTwenty has stepped outside of the normal online cannabis show with their new adult entertainment show, Sex N Weed. This show will be for the more mature marijuana audience; its Facebook page has already made an impact. Look for Sex N Weed to come out in late November.

Measure 80 To Address Mexican Report: Legalizing Pot Will Hurt Cartels

A new study out by the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness finds that marijuana legalization and taxation in Oregon, Washington or Colorado would significantly weaken Mexican drug cartels. The study, which has been covered in leading national and international news outlets including Forbes and The New York Times, affirms similar recent findings by the leading think tank, the RAND Corporation.

At a press conference Friday morning in downtown Portland, former and current police and probation officers, corrections guards, and defense attorneys will address the findings of the report and discuss how Measure 80 will improve Oregon’s public safety.

Dutch Activist: We Don’t Need A Weedpass, We Need To Pass Weed

NORML UK and other cannabis activists across Europe are welcoming the announcement that Dutch cities are set to ditch their proposed Wietpas (“WeedPass”) scheme, which would have allowed only Dutch nationals to buy cannabis in the country’s famous coffeeshops. At least 1.5 million of the city’s seven million visitors a year go to a coffeeshop.

The measure proposed by the previous Christian Democrat government would have forced the coffeeshops to become private members’ clubs, limited to only 2,000 members each and open only to Dutch residents, thereby banning sales to foreigners. The scheme had already been introduced in some parts of southern Holland, where critics say it has already lead to increased street dealing.

“I have decided to fight the federal government because for me, not defending the things that I know are right is dishonorable,” writes Chris Williams from his cell at Crossroads Correctional Center, a for-profit prison in Shelby, Montana. “Every citizen has a responsibility to fight for what is right, even if it seems like the struggle will be lost.”

Williams’ words are particularly poignant. As he writes from prison, he faces the near-certainty that he will spend the rest of his life locked away in an industrial-size cage. His crime? Providing medical marijuana to terminally ill and disabled patients authorized to use cannabis under Montana law.

Williams co-owned Montana Cannabis, along with Tom Daubert, Chris Lindsey and Richard Flor. Daubert was a lobbyist who helped write Montana’s medical marijuana law; Lindsey was a former public defender; Flor was the first registered caregiver in Montana; and Williams was the consummate farmer. Together, these men established a “gold standard” for strict compliance with Montana law.

Like many celebrities, Lady Gaga went all out for Halloween — not that we would expect anything less from Mother Monster. The 26-year-old mega-star dressed up as weed.

Yes, you read that correctly. But not just as any old strain of marijuana, Gaga’s official title was “Princess High the Cannabis Queen.” Gaga threw a rave for her friends and fans on Halloween night after her show in Puerto Rico, and posted photos on her fan site, littlemonsters.com.

Among the party guests was a some dude in a Mitt Romney mask, smoking weed.

Dr. Steve Jenison, chair of the New Mexico Medical Cannabis Advisory Board, will be the featured speaker. Dr. Jenison will speak about the success of the New Mexico program — its regulations, oversight and impact on the State of New Mexico, and about the similarity of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act to New Mexico’s own program.

Dr. Jenison worked at New Mexico’s Department of Health as the medical director for the medicinal cannabis program before he retired.

Patient’s Choice Medical Cannabis Competition Coming To S.F.

Judges’ Packs are available for the sixth annual Patient’s Choice Medical Cannabis Competition in San Francisco, an event which provides Bay Area medical marijuana patients a sampling of the strains they are likely to find available at local dispensaries following the 2012 outdoor harvest season. The competition also provides cultivators, collectives and co-ops with a chance to show off their best weed to patient/judges with highly refined tastes.

Each Judges’ Pack (which costs $300 and is limited to California medical marijuana patients 18 and older) will include two tickets to the awards ceremony, one ballot, and cannabis totaling more than an ounce, made up of small samples of flowers, concentrates, and edibles.

Last year, Judges’ Packs came with 34 one-gram samples of medical cannabis, 10 quarter-gram concentrate entries, and 10 types of medibles, reports David Downs at SF Gate. Humboldt Royal Kush, an outdoor-grown indica from EarthGreenCali farms in Humboldt County, took first place, as reported here last year by Toke of the Town Northern California Correspondent Jack Rikess. It was grown in full sun with no added nutrients; the grower told attendees the plant got all its food from a “secret soil mix,” pH-balanced water, and molasses.

The shop will feature an array of eco-friendly hemp products and specialty items for the 420 culture.

Marijuana Dispensary Sues Justice Department, DEA

No Grey Sky, a medical marijuana dispensary in California, has sued the United States Department of Justice and the Drug Enforcement Administration, claiming that the federal crackdown is an illegal crusade that threatens to prevent thousands of patients from having safe access.

The collective and its members are seeking an injunction agains the DoJ, Attorney General Eric Holder, and the DEA, whose agents raided its downtown storefront this month,j reports Matt Reynolds at Courthouse News.
