A Los Angeles Police Department officer who resides in Huntington Beach has been arrested for exposing himself near the Bolsa Chica wetlands, according to cops in Surf City. Police received several calls about a man exposing himself in the wetlands at the dead end of Bolsa Chica Street, which led detectives to stake out the area, observe a fellow exposing himself on an open path and place him under arrest last Thursday morning, Oct. 23, according to Huntington Beach Police Lt. Mitch O’Brien.
The suspect was later identified as 33-year-old Ryan Eric Galiher, who works out of the Van Nuys station but was, obviously, off duty at the time he was allegedly getting his jollies.

Virginia Ervin gave up college and motherhood to protect her criminal boyfriend after he set her and her baby on fire

“She then realized that both her and her child’s hair were on fire”
Not the sort of words you’ll ever hear leading up to a ‘Mother of the Year’ acceptance speech, but those just so happen to be the exact words written in the affidavit prepared by officers from the Missoula Police Department after investigating the aftermath of a hash oil related explosion earlier this month.
18-year old Virginia Ervin, a student at the University of Montana, initially avoided being arrested in connection to the apartment explosion that we reported on two weeks ago. As the smoke was still clearing on the scene, she readily admitted that she made a conscious decision to “just chill” with her infant child in the same apartment where the highly explosive hash oil extraction was being performed. Still, she walked away free…until last Friday.

Back in 2008, a massive DEA sweep through suburban Philadelphia took down a multimillion dollar cannabis cultivation ring, resulting in the arrest and indictment of twelve Vietnamese Americans who stood accused of conspiring to grow thousands of highly illegal pot plants across several grow sites in Berks County, Pennsylvania.
Among those rounded up in the raids was then 40-year old Dung Bui, also known as “Danny Bui”. Facing compounded consequences due to the fact that his grow site was within spitting distance of a school-owned park, Bui pled guilty to charges of conspiracy to manufacture more than 1,000 marijuana plants and manufacturing and distributing marijuana within 1,000 feet of an athletic field owned by the school district.
Now, six years later, the 3rd Circuit Court has tossed the 2008 ruling out the window, vacating Bui’s guilty plea based on his appeal that he was given bad advice by his attorney.

Law enforcement officers in the northern California town of Sebastopol, in Sonoma County, responded to a call from local firefighters who reported coming across a large marijuana growing operation while attempting to extinguish a fire raging in the same building.
Guns, ammo, indoor and outdoor marijuana plants growing; all of these are pretty standard discoveries in a bust like this, usually along with some cash and other valuables. In this case, a record amount of each was seized in what local cops are saying may be the largest financial grab in the county’s history.

“Why is it everyone who plays Frisbee golf smokes weed?”
While it’s true that there are plenty of tokers on the disc golf greens, a bag full of frisbees is not an indication that someone smokes cannabis. Nor is it ever probable cause for a nosy cop to search your car, as this disc golfer in Iowa shows us in the video below with his smart refusal of a search despite the (rather obvious) baiting from the cop. It’s a video worth watching a few times because it’s exactly how the situation should have been handled:

Here’s a head-scratcher: Vahak Mardoun Mardikian got demoted in 2012 by the Glendale Police Department for harassing and belittling other cops, but later the city’s Civil Service Commission sided with Mardikian. He was ultimately give a huge settlement, basically by claiming that the department, half of which is made up of Armenian, black and Latino cops, is anti-Armenian.
But on Aug. 8, Markidian got tossed in Clark County jail for allegedly giving Las Vegas vice detective Justine Gatus $275 for anal sex — and, well, to fill her gas tank. That’s what Nevada court records show, obtained by the scrappy Glendale News Press. But now he’s going to start collecting $10,000 a month off taxpayers– and he gets to retire at age 50 on the taxpayer dime. Is this OK?

Many people in the cannabis community heard the news via social media apps like Facebook and Instagram way before the San Diego Division of the DEA put out a press release and the local news media caught on.
On Wednesday of last week, the DEA announced that on September 16th, 2014, they arrested nine San Diego area residents after successful raids on multiple locations in the takedown stage of a yearlong investigation they oh-so-cleverly dubbed Operation: Shattered Dreams.

In recent weeks, around a thousand marijuana dispensaries across the states of California, Colorado, and Washington have received a marketing flyer advertising a partnership opportunity with the 3rd richest man in the world, Warren Buffet.
Well, it’s not exactly a partnership, and the flyers didn’t exactly come from Mr. Buffet himself, and really, they weren’t even aimed primarily at the dispensaries they were sent to. But with weed growing faster than warehouse space, Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary Cubic Designs, Inc. has stepped into the industry with a proven solution that promises to double the yield on each harvest.

Is 10% of America’s workforce really toking up before clocking in?

There is a headline making the rounds from Mashable.com right now whose headline bluntly states, “Nearly 10% of Americans Go to Work High on Weed“.
Now, if you visit Mashable.com for news about anything other than maybe potato recipes, you were likely too blinded by the cutesy illustrated infographic attached to the article to have noticed how shoddy the actual attempt at journalism was.

“You can have my gun when you pry it from my smelly, unwashed dungarees”

With the medical and recreational use of cannabis steadily on the rise, controversy looms over how it is to be handled in the workplace. In 23 states, and counting, adults can legally fire up a joint in the privacy of their home, but those same states offer no protection when a person’s otherwise legal cannabis use leads to them losing their job.
So, often the battle comes down to one simple question: How cool is your boss? Some bosses will make you piss in a cup on your way in the door, while others will make sure there is always a bowl packed in the break room bong.
The latter seems to have been the case at Valley Pawn in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where it was all fun and games until one butthurt employee took a bullet where the sun don’t shine.
