A Florida man who tried to get ride of marijuana in his possession during a traffic stop by eating it was arrested Tuesday night and charged with tampering with evidence, according to the Gainesville Police Department.
Amos Moye had bits of cannabis stuck in his teeth and mouth when he was stopped by Officer Jeremiah Kelly at 11:15 p.m., according to police, reports Karen Voyles of The Gainesville Sun.
According to Officer Kelly, Moye got his attention on East University Avenue because the license plate on the vehicle Moye was driving was obstructed, and because he appeared to have made an improper right turn.
Kelly said he hit the blue lights on his patrol car, then followed Moye for about two blocks until the 22-year-old pulled over.
Kelly claimed he noticed the strong odor of burned marijuana as he walked up to the vehicle. He also saw something in Moye’s mouth.

A marijuana grinder made to look like a real hand grenade caused the closure of an entire airport on Vancouver Island Wednesday morning.
The replica grenade, used to grind cannabis for vaporization or smoking, was found inside a passenger’s checked luggage at Campbell River Airport, reports Paul Rudan at the Campbell River Mirror.
“This just shows how a lapse in judgment can have tremendous consequences,” said Royal Canadian Mounted Police Constable Alexa Blacklock. “The airport was closed for almost four hours, inconveniencing over 40 travelers and personnel getting to connecting flights and destinations.”
“It forced an enormous unnecessary use of resources, including specialized units, fire, police, and security staff,” Blacklock said.
Two men were held and questioned by police. Both were released later than day with no charges expected.

A bill has been introduced in the Pennsylvania Legislature to legalize the medicinal use of marijuana — and a new survey shows that about 80 percent of state voters support the move.
“Even though there is broad popular support for legalizing medical marijuana in the state, prospects for its legalization seem slim,” wrote pollsters G. Terry Madonna and Berwood Yost, both Franklin & Marshall College staffers.
The poll also showed that only 33 percent of the state’s voters favor the outright legalization of marijuana, reports David Warner of the Mechanicsburg Patriot-News.

A Maryland woman who said she considers her toy poodle “more like a child than a pet” was crying as she took the cannabinated canine to the veterinarian Monday, after the partying pooch grabbed a marijuana roach in its mouth.
Cynthia Painter of Chevy Chase, Md., said she was walking “Senator” in her apartment courtyard when he tried to eat the cannabis butt, reports Will Thomas at My Fox DC.
“I quickly removed it, but within an hour, he couldn’t walk right and his eyes were glassy, so we rushed him to the hospital,” Painter said.
“Soon as the vet saw him, she said, ‘He’s stoned,’ ” Painter said. Proper!

A judge on Wednesday lifted a Fresno County, California ban on outdoor marijuana gardens.
The 45-day ban had been imposed by supervisors last month after several violent confrontations between thieves and backyard medical cannabis growers, reports Eddie Jimenez of The Fresno Bee. The ban was instituted while a permanent ordinance for unincorporated areas of Fresno County is being drafted.
Superior Court Judge Jeff Hamilton on Wednesday issued a temporary restraining order that blocks enforcement of the ban. Attorney Brenda Linder, who on behalf of four medical marijuana collectives and one patient, filed a lawsuit Friday, sought the injunction.
Judge Hamilton will hear arguments November 3 on whether to grant a preliminary injunction against the ordinance, Linder said.

New Poll Shows Prop 203 With 22-Point Lead
The voters of Arizona appear to be ready to legalize medical marijuana — for the third time.
A Rocky Mountain Poll released Wednesday shows 54 percent of registered voters approving Proposition 203, which would allow the medical use of cannabis, with only 32 percent opposing it, reports Michelle Ye Hee Lee of The Arizona Republic. Fourteen percent said they are undecided.
Another new statewide poll from Earl de Berge has very similar results, showing 52 percent of likely voters support Prop 203, reports Howard Fischer of Capitol Media Services. Only 33 percent are opposed, with the rest undecided.

New Jersey officials setting up the Garden State’s deeply flawed medical marijuana program heard Wednesday from people hoping to get one of the six licenses — two licenses for growers, and four licenses for dispensaries — called for by the new law. The feedback wasn’t positive.
The New Jersey law, described as the most restrictive medical marijuana law in the nation, is so strict that both prospective growers and sellers say some patients might keep getting their pot from illegal dealers.
At the hearing in Trenton, N.J., one prospective dispensary owner criticized the proposed rules by saying “anybody would be a fool to apply,” reports Brian Thompson at NBC New York.

Committee Members Say They Prefer to Focus on Passing a Medical Marijuana Law and Decriminalizing Personal PossessionMarijuana legalization and regulation won’t be happening next legislative session in New Hampshire.
The House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee on Wednesday concluded its interim study process on HB 1652, which would tax and regulate marijuana similarly to alcohol, and passed on the opportunity to recommend the bill for next legislative session.
The proposal was simply “too much, too soon,” according to Rep. David Welch (R-Kingston), and Welch’s phrase was repeated by several other committee members during the almost hour-long discussion.
However, the interim study process was “very positive and productive overall,” according to Matt Simon, executive director of the New Hampshire Coalition for Common Sense Marijuana Policy (NH Common Sense).

Medical marijuana patients and supporters are staging a protest this Thursday, October 14, as criminal court proceedings begin at the Terraine Courthouse in San Jose, California. The protests are responding to aggressive law enforcement actions over the past two weeks by several local police departments and the California Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement.
The so-called “investigation,” which resulted in the arrest of almost two dozen medical cannabis patients and providers in Santa Clara County on October 1 and 7, is cynically referred to by law enforcement as “Up In Smoke.”
A press conference will be held at 12:30 p.m., with some of the arrested patients, their attorneys, and patient advocates expressing staunch opposition to law enforcement’s heavy-handed tactics.

Police in Chino, California, have raided a large and sophisticated marijuana grow operation inside a commercial building, seizing thousands of cannabis plants they claimed are worth up to $20 million.
When officers responded at 8:19 a.m. on Monday to a possible burglary after reports of a broken window on the building, the discovered the huge illegal operation inside the structure in the 13800 block of Magnolia Avenue in Chino on Monday morning, officials said, reports KTLA News.
What do you suppose the odds are that the supposed “broken window” was nothing but an excuse cops made up to illegally go inside and take a look around?
