Minnesota Looking to Hire Expert Cannabis Growers

0

Through early October, the state is accepting applications from entities interested in becoming one of Minnesota’s two official medical marijuana growers.
Via a spokesperson, family members from one prominent Twin Cities business, Bachman’s Floral Gift & Garden Centers, told the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal they’ll throw their hats in the proverbial ring, though the spokesperson said the Bachman’s Floral business itself won’t be involved.

Out of the four grow-related businesses the Business Journal spoke to (including Bachman’s), only one other, St. Paul’s Urban Organics, expressed interest in applying, and Urban Organics wouldn’t go further than to say they might do it.
But if the overflow crowd at last month’s informational meeting for prospective growers is any indication, the state won’t be hurting for applicants.
We asked Manny Munson-Regala, assistant health commissioner, what the 15-person panel charged with selecting medical marijuana growers will look for.
