Iowans overwhelmingly want to allow their sick neighbors and family members to be able to access legal medical cannabis according to a poll released this week from Quinnipiac University.
According to the study, 87 percent of 1,411 voters polled said that state laws need to be changed. Medical marijuana saw no less than 68 percent across all political parties, gender and age groups. Conversely, 55 percent of those same voters said recreational use of cannabis should remain illegal.

Miamians hoping to take their careers to a higher level might get the chance as soon as next month. Medical marijuana may still be a pipe dream in Florida, but Jeremy Bufford, the founder of Medical Marijuana Tampa, says he’s planning to open South Florida’s first school aimed at teaching weed entrepreneurship.

Gov. Mark Dayton has directed two members of his staff as well as the state public health commissioner to work with medical marijuana supporters in crafting a bill he could possibly sign into law within the next two months.
The news came on Thursday after patients and advocates descended on his mansion in St. Paul with strollers and signs that read, “Love Over Law Enforcement.” They called on the governor to stop letting the spokesmen of public safety dictate the conversation and to offer new negotiating partners, now that the bill has been effectively stalled.

In the wake of yesterday’s developments, Minnesota’s medical marijuana push has gone off the rails. And with law enforcement officials showing no sign of softening their anti-pot stance — and Governor Dayton giving no indication he’ll reconsider his I’ll-only-support-it-if-cops-do position — the bill’s chief House backer, Rep. Carly Melin, D-Hibbing, is urging medical marijuana supporters to exert direct pressure on elected officials.

The family of a seizure-stricken little girl who became the face of medical marijuana in New Jersey has moved to Colorado after that state’s MMJ program completely failed them, the parents say.

The Kentucky state Senate yesterday gave final approval to a bill that would legalize cannabidiol (CBD) oil for minors in the state suffering from severe, chronic seizure disorders. The bill now moves on to the House, which is expected to pass the measure as well.

Washington patients have been under attack by their state legislature, which has pushed a bill that would pretty much end the state’s medical marijuana program and force patients into the highly-taxed recreational model. House Bill 2149 deservedly should die a quick death.
And at least state Sen. Ann Rivers recognizes the flaws. Late last week Rivers introduced Senate Bill 5887 which addresses some of the major issues patients have with the other bill – though it still needs some tweaking to be palatable to Washington medical marijuana supporters.
