Tomorrow, April 20, the latest edition of the Denver 4/20 Rally will hit Civic Center Park. The event, which gets under way at 10 a.m., is expected to draw approximately 50,000 people, and there’ll be plenty of food and music courtesy of DJs, local hip-hop groups and headliner 2 Chainz, who’ll emcee the annual 4:20 p.m. countdown. But what do attendees really need to know? We asked Miguel Lopez, the man behind the bash. Here’s his personal Denver 4/20 Rally top ten.

A 38-year-old man who murdered a drug dealer making himself a cup of coffee in a Santa Ana bakery has been sentenced to 80 years to life in state prison.
A jury last month found Israel Pena Lopez of Santa Ana guilty of murder and possession of a firearm by a felon and found true a sentencing enhancement for the personal discharge of a firearm causing death.
A Colorado lawsuit filed this past June contends that special taxes placed on recreational marijuana sales are illegal and unconstitutional. Today, the group filing the lawsuit, No Over Taxation, has a hearing in the case. Cannabis advocates encouraging attendance contend that should the suit be successful, it could spell the end for marijuana licensing and registration regulations statewide.

Cops in Durham, North Carolina lied about 911 calls to trick residents into opening the doors and letting the pigs inside when they otherwise wouldn’t have had access.
This wasn’t just once, mind you. Apparently, it was a pseudo-policy for the department despite Durham Police Chief Jose Lopez’s denial.
Last year, attorney Rob Corry, who helped author Amendment 64, the 2012 law that legalized limited recreational marijuana sales, campaigned against cannabis taxation measures by, among other things, co-hosting rallies featuring free joints.
Corry’s efforts fell short at the ballot box, so now he’s trying his luck at the courthouse. In a complaint filed this week in Denver District Court, Corry and other plaintiffs argue that special pot taxes should be eliminated and all the money paid to date be refunded.
Denver city officials expect organizers of this weekend’s 4/20 event at Denver’s Civic Center Park to actively discourage public pot smoking — an activity that’s illegal under Colorado law. However, liquor will be sold and can be consumed at the McNichols Building on the Civic Center complex during the festival. Among those who sees this situation as contradictory is Miguel Lopez, the 4/20 weekend’s organizer who applied for the right to sell beer in the first place.
According to Lopez, the beer-sale request was submitted to Denver Arts & Venues, the city department that oversees the McNichols Building — and it has been approved.
Miguel Lopez, organizer of the annual 4/20 rally at Denver’s Civic Center Park, has obtained a permit to stage what’s described in a press release as a “‘No on Proposition AA’ Campaign” to fight against a proposed state tax on recreational marijuana — one that could be as high as 30 percent.

It must be getting hot in Arizona. Our friends at the Phoenix New Times have a pair of stories worth repeating – so that they never are repeated again:
First up, there’s Jorge Valencia who police say was just out there in the open using Facebook to sling herb like it was no big deal (Editor’s note: it shouldn’t be). Nobody told Jorge about privacy settings apparently, because police were able to see him post about what he had and how much “dope money” he’d been making.
Next up, we’ve got Stephanie Lopez who was allegedly smoking some herb in her car when police pulled her over (in the drive-through of the Burger King). Police officer didn’t find the herb right away and Lopez denied it initiatlly, but later admitted to the cop she had it and pulled it out of her vagina. No word on if it was XXX Diesel or (I know this is bad) Pussy Kush.
