Just because marijuana doesn’t hurt your lungs (and the latest 20-year study shows that not only does it not damage lungs, but it increases lung capacity), don’t assume that the same applies to tobacco.

| Stuffed Strawberries: almost like a strawberry stuffed with cheesecake, this fruity finger food recipe is always a crowd pleaser (see recipe below) |
“Let me take you down ’cause I’m going to Strawberry Fields.”
~ The Beatles
By Cheri Sicard
For me, the first arrival of local strawberries in the market — more than any other ingredient — signifies the official beginning of summer.
Here in California, strawberry season is already well underway, so I thought this would be an apropos time to explore summer’s favorite fruit from the cannabis connoisseur’s perspective, including some tasty medicated strawberry recipes, favorite strawberry marijuana strains, and even strawberry themed music to enjoy it all by.

Researchers at the University of Jordan believe that used coffee grounds — typically containing about 10 percent oil — could be a source of biodiesel automobile fuel in the future. And more researchers, these at Warwick University in the U.K., believe hemp fiber could replace the carbon fiber in auto bodywork.
They University of Jordan team, headed by Zayed Al-Hamamre, argues that we could get around 1,000 metric tonnes (one metric tonne = 1,000 kilograms) of biodiesel from coffee grounds each year. The scientists point out we could do this without using up more of the world’s ever-shrinking areas with arable land, reports Corinne Burns of The Guardian.
| You really do need this “Por Marijuana Leaf US USA Flag Logo Embroidered Iron-on Hippie Patch.” Don’t you? |
By Bob Starrett
You know you always wanted one. A “Pot Marijuana Leaf US USA Flag Logo Embroidered Iron-on Hippie Patch.” And it is only $3.99 on Amazon. What about “Outer Rebel Fashion Shoelaces – Black with Rasta Marijuana Leaves?” Perhaps an “Alligator In Egg Marijuana Pot Leaf Resin Ash Tray New” – only 1 left! That’s no surprise.
Very descriptive titles. I suppose merchandise follows trends. If something is popular then there will be a lot of themed merchandise following it around. Now I suspect that these items were not handmade by retired hippies in quaint shops in the Emerald Triangle or Nederland, Colorado. But the product descriptions reminded me of some that I had seen before.

Every cannabis grower knows that there are lots of pests and diseases which can screw up those plans for a big harvest. Some live in the soil, and some are airborne. They can be barely visible, like spider mites or thrips, or they can weigh hundreds of pounds, like deer.
Cultivation expert Ed Rosenthal’s new book, Marijuana Pest & Disease Control, offers a serious look at 21 pests and diseases likely to strike not only cannabis crops, but flower and vegetable gardens as well. While the book’s focus is marijuana-specific, the book covers problems faced by all gardeners.
A partial list of pests covered includes aphids, spider mites, ants, whiteflies, powdery mildew, stem rot, and mammals such as gophers and rats. While your Cousin Bob — the stoner who thinks that, since you grow a couple plants, you’ve taken him to raise — isn’t covered in the book, practically every other marijuana pest is.
