Attention clandestine Creek County, Oklahoma outdoor marijuana growers: stop growing your weed where wild game is being hunted.
Late yesterday evening Creek County Sheriff’s deputies got a call from a local narc hunter about a big, green find he had bagged: nearly $1 million in herb. This is the second time in three years police say they’ve found a grow like this in the area.
Over the past month or so, the organization opposed to the marijuana taxation measure Proposition AA has staged rallies in Denver and Boulder at which attendees were given free joints. But did the way No on Prop AA reported about its expenditures break Colorado campaign-finance law?
The watchdog group Colorado Ethics Watch thinks it did and has filed a complaint with the state on the topic. Denver Westword has the details.
You know the pot tide is turning when Texas wants to legalize it. According to a study by the Marijuana Policy Project and Public Policy Polling released today, 58 percent of voters polled said they wanted to legalize pot and regulate it similarly to alcohol. Thirty-eight percent were opposed.
The Lone Star State also feels that medical marijuana should be legalized, with 58 percent supporting changes in laws to allow access to cannabis for sick and terminally ill patients. Only 31 percent say they would oppose medical cannabis laws.

This government shutdown seems to be causing very serious problems for some Americans.
In fact, a 26-year-old Phoenix man arrested for marijuana possession told police that he was just smoking pot because the shutdown was stressing him out too much, according to court documents. Phoenix New Times has the rest of this tale.
Last Wednesday, the FBI announced that they had identified and detained Ross William Ulbricht, aka “Dread Pirate Roberts”, the alleged founder and owner of the not-so-Top-Secret illicit online drug marketplace known as Silk Road.
Until the seizure by the Feds last week, Silk Road, in operation since 2011, served as a sort of Amazon.com for anything from pills to hallucinogens to heroin, and everything in between.

Reports from Turkey this week are that they have broken their all-time record for drugs seized in a single operation, when anti-smuggling and organized crime agents from the Diyarbakir Police Department uncovered over 23 tons of weed – a stash roughly the size of a full grown killer whale, testicles and all.

It’s not an uncommon tactic for police to get electrical usage records to target and bust growers. Apparently it takes a lot more than that to get someone’s attention in Patterson, California.
Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputies say that a pair of grow houses in a quiet residential neighborhood were using so much combined electricity that they overloaded the grid and burned through cables supplying the entire neighborhood.

A twenty-foot boat filled with 80 pounds of dirt weed from Mexico capsized in plain view of some butt-nekkid beachgoers and surfers near Santa Cruz, California yesterday.
The capsized boat washed ashore around 11 a.m. Monday, according to police. At least, that’s when distress calls came in from concerned beachgoers about a crew of a small boat drowning.
