Spanish customs officials busted a 64-year-old man pretending to be an imam, or Islamic preacher, this week who was carrying four pounds of hash under the flowing robe of his costume.
Customs officials say they stopped Azad Bishir Levi after he stepped off a boat from Morocco with a funny walk – apparently, the kind of limp you have when you’ve not done a good job of strapping hash to your body.

Technically, CBD-only pills extracted from legal hemp grown in Europe isn’t cannabis. At least, that the argument from Boston’s Bill Downing, who operates the CBD Please store that sells CBD-only oils despite an order from the state Health Department to shut down his operations.
But Downing, who isn’t a medical cannabis patient, says he doesn’t care what the heald department says, he’ll keep selling his CBD.

Another week means another horrible round of cannabis-related headlines coming out of sunny San Diego, California. In an attempt to turn America’s Finest City into the nation’s Ground Zero in the War on Weed, San Diego city officials, backed by a militant branch of the DEA and weed-hating local law enforcement, have almost totally shut down any idea of safe access to medical marijuana.
San Diego’s scene has been slashed from over 300 storefront medical marijuana dispensaries in 2011, to less than 40 in operation today – and not one of those 40 is operating with the consent of the city.

Long Beach Police Department Chief Jim McDonnell was sworn in as Los Angeles County Sheriff yesterday afternoon.
There’s no question that he was elected in November to reform a department rocked by federal charges against deputies that included allegations of excessive force against inmates, assaults on jail visitors, and the attempting thwarting an FBI investigation by hiding an incarcerated informant. It sounds like a clear task, but it won’t be easy. LA Weekly has more.

Last week, we noted that marijuana businesses were embracing Black Friday, with The Grass Station leading the charge via $50 ounces for the first sixteen customers on November 26-28. And while the promotion was presumably aimed at local customers, the whole “Green Friday” concept definitely got national exposure.
Arizona could generate an additional $48 million in revenue by legalizing and taxing marijuana, an analysis by the State Legislature shows.
The Joint Legislative Budget Committee produced a report in September on the estimated impact of legal marijuana, but didn’t release the data publicly. New Times obtained a copy of the report this morning.

The head of the Arizona Naturopathic Physicians Medical Board isn’t concerned with a new report that shows naturopaths make most of the states medical-marijuana recommendations.
“Yes, our doctors are the top prescribers,” says Gail Anthony, the board’s executive director. “I don’t think it would be a big deal.”
Anthony does, however, recommend that licensed naturopaths follow state rules concerning written medical-marijuana certifications — even if a recent court ruling states they can’t be prosecuted for flouting those rules. More at the Phoenix New Times.

A lot of addicts say they needed to hit rock bottom before being ready to accept recovery. This apparently has not yet happened for Miami lawyer Kenneth Kukec. He was arrested in July after he was allegedly caught snorting lines of cocaine off the back of a toilet in a Circle K in the Florida Keys, but was back in jail on Monday after violating his pretrial release by testing positive for amphetamines.
