Scotland’s Austin Low, known for his work as a writer on a children’s TV show, was mailed a box of “cookies” from somewhere on this side of the pond the other week. Only, the “cookies” weren’t cookies. They were several sealed bags of ganja. Though the report doesn’t say how much was found, they did say it was enough to be worth nearly $14,000 over there, according to the BBC.
Jacob Pressley and Jennifer Carpenter of Durham, North Carolina, were arrested Feb. 8 after Raleigh and Durham police raided their suburban home north of Interstate 40 and found “several” marijuana plants, according to the Herald-Sun. Police also found their child asleep in the house.

Hepatitis C and Cancer patient Vince Borinski says that he was unfairly evicted from the Country Park Villas apartments in Mesa Arizona due to his choice of medication, according to AZFamily TV3 Mesa. View the video after the break.
A report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released this week says there is a link between smoking synthetic cannabis (Spice, K2) and acute kidney injury and even kidney failure. But as for how much of a link there is, scientists aren’t exactly sure.

CNN compiled a report on stoned driving this week focusing Washington state’s passage of Initiative 502 that set the THC blood limit for a driver at five nanograms per milliliter of blood.
While the report no doubt scared a few people into thinking high drivers are a menace, it also shows that impairment doesn’t necessarily happen at five nanograms and that stoned drivers may be safer than people think.

Congrats New York City, your mayor finally listened to something you had to say. Starting next month, having a bag of weed out in public won’t necessarily mean jail time like it does currently. As long as you have an ID on you and no warrants, the boy (or girl) in blue will be letting you go.

Last October, Aldwin Rendardo Gooden stepped off a flight from Kingston, Jamaica in Gatwick Airport in the UK where he lives and was immediately detained for the two boxes containing about 44 pounds of marijuana he was packing in his luggage. Sadly, that’s not all that uncommon around the world (even I’ve been stopped coming back for Jamaica for simply smelling like ganja).

One of Hawaii’s potential legalization bills died in committee yesterday. Hawaii House Judiciary Chairman Karl Rhoads said that he killed House Bill 699 after finding that there was not enough support to get the bill through.
