A Canadian marijuana activist and winner of a $25 million national lottery last November is putting his money where his mouth is.
The Province reported last week that Bob Erb, 60, has vowed to meet any donations to Sensible British Columbia campaign for marijuana decriminalization and legalization. Erb has already donated $120,000, and says he’ll donate up to $500,000 more to match donations.

The Pennsylvania legislature will consider legalizing the possession of small amounts of marijuana and regulating cannabis similarly to alcohol this session, thanks to a bill sponsored by Sen. Daylin Leach.

With the passage of Colorado’s Amendment 64 last November, adults age 21 and over can legally have up to an ounce of marijuana. Possessing more than that remains illegal, however — and a recent arrest suggests that police officers will use all the tools at their disposal to make sure those who exceed that amount are punished. The bustee: Daniel Frederick, whose offense is said to have been observed by surveillance camera.
Scientists with Neuroscience Research Australia are finding that increased amounts of CBD may dramatically heal and protect the memory of people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
Last week, scientists in New Zealand announced the findings of a “study” they did on the correlation between cannabis use and certain types of strokes. Despite the shaky science, the finding has been moved around the world by now on dozens of media outlets — most of which aren’t questioning what’s behind it.
Michigan medical marijuana patients have to grow their own or get it from someone else. The Michigan Supreme Court ruled this week against Compassionate Apothecary in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, deciding that medical marijuana dispensaries are not legal under state laws.

The other day we were sent a video of cannabis dramatically helping a patient with epilepsy from a reader who asked that we share it to help others in the same position hopefully find relief. The video itself is somewhat low-quality and shaky, but in it you can clearly see Adam’s convulsions and the muscle-tightening that balls his hands into fists. After just a few puffs, you can see his body instantly relax as his shaking and convulsions get under control.

One of Colorado’s first cannabis-friendly hangouts, The Front Tea and Arts, is being shut down by a city ban that the shop’s owner says was targeted directly at her. Lafayette City Council unanimously voted Tuesday to pass an eight-month moratorium on all marijuana-related businesses, including the city’s lone cannabis-friendly coffee shop.
